Transformation

“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”

 ― Maya Angelou

I thought of this quote today when I was listening to one of my friends tell me of a painful experience he had just gone through and how he wasn't handling it well. I told him of how I had gone through something similar lately, that he wasn't alone and shared how I had dealt with my own problem. This got me thinking.

People never converse over the horrendous events that occur in life or their reactions to them; just, the mellow and good stuff they go through! That's a shame!! Yes, nobody likes a "Debbie Downer" (sorry for all those people named Debbie out there),  but I'm not talking about the people who complain about everything, they should definitely lock that up asap! I'm talking to the majority whom are too scared of how other's will perceive them to reach out to their friends when they're in need due to their own harbored feelings of regret, guilt, and wrongly preconceived notions attached to failure. Social media has helped in some ways, but it has also made some less/more detached as well.

We should all know we aren't alone in this world, or hold such guilt towards ourselves for things that everyone has done in some point of their life. Failure, short-comings, loss, rejection etc. are inevitable, so the quicker we embrace what happened, learn from it and move on, the closer we come to transformation into something more beautiful, like the butterfly!

Just remember the butterfly goes through several stages during metamorphosis (egg-caterpillar-pupa-butterfly), as we all will throughout our life as we grow; so, don't get frustrated when inevitable roadblocks, setbacks, or other problems occur. Remember you made it through one before and came out stronger for having done so! Focus on the fact that you will make it through the next hurdle, and are one step closer to becoming what you were always meant to be, beautiful!
